Funeral services for Dolores Janet Ardoin Smith will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday January 3, 2013 in the chapel of John Kramer & Son, with Father Dan O'Connor and Father Charles Ray officiating. Interment will follow in St Peter Cemetery, Pine Prairie, LA.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday January 2, 2013 and will be held again on Thursday from 8:30 a.m. until time of service.

Dolores Janet Ardoin Smith, of Pineville passed away on December 31, 2012 at the age of 79. She was born on April 18, 1933 to Clifford and Ledie Ardoin and raised in Pine Prairie, Louisiana.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Robert E Smith; her daughter Karen Smith and her brother Horace Ardoin.

Dolores was a loving sister to four brothers, Terry, Harold, Charles, and Horace Ardoin. She was fond of playing tennis, basketball and enjoyed dancing. Dolores was the art director of her school yearbook. She also took great care in creating her beautiful garden. Dolores was very proud of her work with her local library.

Dolores was united in marriage to Robert Smith on April 16, 1955, shortly after she began her most important career as a mother. It was then that she mastered the skills as a chef, seamstress, baker, teacher, doctor, counselor and everything else that great parents learn to do. She was and will always be the heart that binds her family together. She is the most courageous and affectionate mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will forever be remembered for her strength and her ability to put aside her own pain or problems to care for those she loved without any complaints or regrets. Dolores Janet Ardoin Smith, you will always be admired, respected and loved by your family.

She will forever be remembered by her children: Katherine Smith, Gregory Paul Smith and wife Shannon Raines, Michael Smith, Sandra Jane Hollis, Deborah A. Smith, David E. Smith and wife Kelly Pearson and Margaret E. Smith; her grandchildren: Brandi Wells, Rebecca Gyer, Jennifer Corrick, Jamie Wallace, Jason Sams, Donovan Smith, Courtney Godwin, Trinity Hollis, Devon Colson, Taylor Smith, Dustin Bailey, Dana Smith, C.J. Green, and Dalton Michiels; and fourteen great grandchildren.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Gregory Smith, David Smith, Donovan Smith, Bradley Thompson, Jesse Taylor, Mark Godwin, Shannon Raines and Dalton Michiels.
