Edward D. Vercher

Edward D. Vercher, 80, of Rapides Station, passed away October 9, 2012 in the Grace Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Edward D. Vercher will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2012, in St. Margaret Catholic Church, Boyce, with Rev. Bob Courville officiating. Interment will be in Bay Springs Cemetery, Chopin under the direction of John Kramer & Son.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday and from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. Friday at John Kramer & Son.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gustina Vercher, one sister and seven brothers.

Edward served in the United States Army and the National Guard for thirty years. He was a Tile Setter for twenty-eight years. He was a member of the American Legion, AmVets and the VFW. Known to many by caring for others, and always lending a helping hand when needed.

He is lovingly survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Angie Lee Basco Vercher of Rapides Station, four children, Mary Lynn Rachal and her husband, Gene of Ball, Regina LaCour and her husband, Richard of Simpson, Edward R. Vercher of Rapides Station and Byron A. Vercher and his wife, Barbara of Pineville, five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, one brother, Jesse Vercher and his wife, Margie of Pollock and numerous nieces and nephews.
