Funeral services for Mr. Edward Marcantel will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Oberlin with Deacon Norris Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Oberlin Cemetery under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oberlin.

Mr. Marcantel, 85, of Oberlin, entered eternal rest on Sunday, November 11, 2012 in the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home, Jennings.

Edward was a United States Army Veteran of World War II and the recipient of two Purple Hearts. He was a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a barber at the Dixie Barbershop in Oakdale for over twenty years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Benoit Marcantel; two sons, Jack Marcantel and Clayborne Marcantel and four brothers.

Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include three sons, Robert Ray Marcantel and his wife, Louella of Lake Arthur, Kenneth "Kenue" Marcantel and his wife, Pam of Eunice and Gary Marcantel of Metairie; one daughter, Linda Marcantel Fontenot and her husband, Silton of Kinder; eighteen grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Friends may call at Rush Funeral Home, Oberlin, on Monday, November 12, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until departure for the church for a 3:00 p.m. service.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday in the funeral home.
