Services for Elbert Leo Galligan will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, August 25, 2013, in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria with Reverend Lee Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Alexandria Memorial Gardens.

The family asks that visitation be observed Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and resume Sunday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Mr. Galligan, 99, of Oakdale, passed away Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Regency House, Alexandria.

Mr. Galligan retired after 30 years of civilian civil service at England Air Force Base. He was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Mr. Galligan was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and served with the Pacific Fleet. He was a 62 year member of the Grand Lodge of Louisiana F. & A.M. and a member in good standing of the Yellow Pine Lodge #282 in Oakdale.

His grandparents, John Griffin Perry and Yosebia Lavinia Henderson Perry; mother, Clarinda Priscilla Perry Galligan; brother, Edward Everret Galligan; sister, Irma Galligan Guillory and wife, Alice Adelle Chevalier Galligan preceded him in death. Also, his two most favorite couples and friends, James and Estelle Chevalier Miller and Overton and Myrtle Chevalier Miller preceded him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Charles L. Galligan and wife, Wanda of Oakdale, Louisiana; granddaughter, Leslie Rene' Galligan of Houston, Texas; grandson, Charles "Chuck" L. Galligan, Jr. and wife, Jennifer and his only great-granddaughter, Lauren Adelle Galligan all of Harvey, Louisiana and numerous niece, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be members of the Yellow Pine Lodge #282. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Grand Lodge of Louisiana F. & A. M.

The family would like to thank the Regency House and Compassionate Care Hospice for their services and for providing such special care. Also, the family would like to thank Ms. Sherry Baggett for her service as personal caregiver for the past 2 years.
