Frances Louise Kendrick McGinty

Frances Louise Kendrick McGinty, 88, widow of Joe King McGinty, Sr., peacefully passed away on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in St. Augustine, Florida on January 17, 1925, the daughter of Col. George Frederick Kendrick and Marietta Ball Kendrick. "Fran" was educated in St. John County Public Schools and at Brenau Academy in Gainesville, Georgia. On September 15, 1945, Fran and Joe King were married soon after his return from active duty in Europe at Mitchell Field, Long Island, New York and returned to Alexandria after a honeymoon in New York City.

She was a charter member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, a member of the Altar Society, and the Catholic Daughters and was very active in her faith.

Fran was an active member of the Service League and later a sustaining member of the Junior League of Alexandria. An avid Bridge player and Life Master, Fran was co-manager/Director of the Cenla Duplicate Bridge Club.

Fran is survived by her five children and their families, Colleen (Dee) Gilbert of Alexandria, Mary (Muff) Boyd (Herbert) of Georgetown, South Carolina; Joe King McGinty, Jr. (Penny), Susan M. McNeal (Mike) of Alexandria, and William F. (Billy) McGinty (Kathy) of Suwanee, Georgia, 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A remembrance of Fran's life will be celebrated at Kramer & Son Funeral Home with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19th and a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20th with Rev. Dan O'Connor officiating. Visitation is scheduled at Kramer's from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 19th. Interment will be at Greenwood Memorial Park.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Dubuis Hospital and St. Joseph Hospice for their kindness and gentle care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in honor of Fran be made to Our Lady of Prompt Succor Capital Campaign Fund, 401 21st Street, Alexandria, Louisiana 71301.
