Harry "Ben" Dauzat
Funeral services for Mr. Harry "Ben" Dauzat will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville with Reverend Gary Jones officiating. Burial will follow in St. Genevieve Cemetery in Brouillette. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.
Mr. Dauzat, age 84, of Brouillette, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Grace Home (Christus Cabrini Hospital) in Alexandria. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Armetha, his parents, Enest and Eunice Dauzat of Brouillette, and two brothers, Hersey Dauzat and Hickman Dauzat of Brouillette.
Those left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Debbie Manuel and huband Bob of Alexandria, Cheryl Wall and huband David of Brouillette, Karen "Sue" Bordelon and husband Gene, Jr. of Brouillette, one son, Chris A. Dauzat and wife Tracy of Hickory Hill, one sister, Rita Lachney of Brouillette, one brother, Ernest "Weeze" Dauzat of Brouillette, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was a devoted and supportive husband, father and grandfather. He loyally served his country in the U. S. Navy for approximately seven years aboard the USS Miller, with Duty Stations that included Pearl Harbor and Orange, Texas. After serving his country, he returned to the Brouillette Community where he farmed and later retired as a Correctional Officer with the Louisiana Department of Corrections at Angola, Lousiaiana.
Visitation will be held at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will resume on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. until shortly before funeral service time at 11:00 a.m.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Chris Dauzat, Bob Manuel, David Wall, Gene Bordelon, Jr., Shawn Bordelon, and Jason Harrell. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeremy Manuel.
The family would like to thank everyone for all the prayers and support, the Hessmer Nursing Home Staff and the Grace Home Staff in Alexandria for their loving care, compassion and kindness provided to their father.
