Funeral services for Mr. J. B. Johnson will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2013 in Calcasieu Baptist Church with Reverend Bert Riddle officiating. Interment will follow in Union Hill Cemetery under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mr. Johnson, 89, of Union Hill, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 in Rapides Regional Medical Center, Alexandria.
J. B. retired from Plainview High School after forty years of service. He started as a teacher, then assistant principal and retired as principal. He received his Bachelors Degree from Northwestern, Masters Degree from McNeese and then his 30 + from Northwestern. He also taught the G.E.D. classes at Plainview. He was a World War II
veteran of the United States Army
. He was a member of the Louisiana Cattleman's Association. He was a committee member of Union Hill Cemetery Association and a member of Calcasieu Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Mary Johnson; one brother, Dean Johnson and two sisters, Lenora "Nock" Johnson and Eunice Johnson.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife of seventy years, Goldie M. Johnson of Union Hill; one daughter, Elaine Maricle and her husband, Dan of Union Hill; two granddaughters, Candice Maricle of Gonzales and Courtney Maricle ot Tullahoma, Tennessee; three brothers, Elvin Johnson and his wife, Nelda of Oakdale, Charles Johnson and his wife, Sybil of Oakdale and Carl Wayne and his wife, Julia of Hineston; four sisters, Pauline Stanley of Oakdale, Jewel Johniken of Alexandria, Laverne Chenevert of Oakdale, and Evelyn Johnson and her husband, Vance of Glenmora.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Lance Wheat, Bruce Wheat, Wayne Johnson, Glen Johnson, Mark Johnson, Delane Johnson, Brandon Johnson and Jeffrey Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Ray, O. D. West, Vance Johnson, Claude Johnson, Bobby Cloud, Glen Johnson, Greg Johnson and Jerry Stokes.
Friends may call at Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale on Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and at Calcasieu Baptist Church on Friday, November 8, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at 2:00 p.m.
