James A. "Jim" Kerry
Funeral services celebrating the life of James A. "Jim" Kerry will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 9, 2012 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria with Brother Dobie Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Melder.
The family requests that visitation be observed Saturday, December 8, 2012 at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will continue on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
Mr. Kerry, 73, of Alexandria passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.
He was the Water Works Superintendent for Water Works District # 3 for 32 years. He was Councilman for the Apalachee Indians of Louisiana, Talimali Band. Music was his life and his love, he had played music in Nashville for 12 years, returning to Alexandria and playing at the American Legion for 20 years, and was a member of The Pure Country Band at the death.
His great love was family, especially his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Polite and Louise Brossett Kerry and sisters, Annie Lou Rachal, Lucille Gardner and Frozine Webb.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of almost 19 years, Carolyn Shockley Kerry of Alexandria; son, Chad Lewis and wife, Ann of Waterville, Washington, and Tate Lewis of Alexandria; daughter, Becky Barton and husband, Chad of Melder; grandchildren, Bubba Barton, Cendall Barton, Hannah Lewis, and Rylann Lewis; his nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
