Johnetta R. White

Funeral services for Johnetta R. White will be held at 11 am., on Friday, November 9, 2012 at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church in Alexandria, with Dr. Solmon Shorter officiating. Interment will follow at Alexandria Memorial Gardens in Woodworth, under the direction of Robinson Family Mortuary.

Johnetta R. White was born January 26, 1927, in Winnfiled.

After moving to Alexandria, Johnetta joined True Vine Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J. H. Hayes. She was very active in the following activities: Sunday school teacher, vacation bible school teacher, tutoring, BTU and the food pantry.

Johnetta attended Southern University in Baton Rouge and received a B.S. degree in Physical Education. She also attended Louisiana State University and received her certification in Elementary Education. She was a retired educator with 30 years of service in Rapides Parish.

She was a charter member of the Alexandria Alumnae Chapter of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and a member of the Cenla Retired Teachers Unit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ada Robinson; one brother Leonard Robinson and one sister Pauline Carter.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving and devoted husband of 59 years Cornelius White Sr; one son Cornelius White Jr.; three sisters, Lettie Alexander and Palestine Harris of Los Angels, California and Bobbie Camp of Farfield, California and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Viewing is from 8:00 am until time of service. Service is at 11:00 am, Friday, November 9, 2012.
