Margaret Ann Cooley Garner
A Christian funeral service for Margaret Ann Cooley Garner will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 7, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Pollock, Louisiana with Reverend Nick Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, under the direction of Griffin- Forest Lawn Funeral Home of Ball, Louisiana.
The family requests that visitation be observed Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Ball from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and continue on Friday at First Baptist Church, Pollock from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
Mrs. Garner, 71, of Pollock passed away Monday, December 3, 2012 in Woods Haven Nursing Home.
She was a 1959 graduate of Lecompte High School and enjoyed life-long friendships with many of her classmates. Mrs. Garner also enjoyed many close friendships with her church family at First Baptist in Pollock. Some of her favorite things to do included reading, spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren, and listening to music by Elvis Presley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kay and Clara Stafford Cooley, sisters Beatrice Jones, Marie Drewett and Wanda Roberts as well as one brother, Robert Cooley.
Those left with so many wonderful memories of Mrs. Garner are, the love of her life and husband of nearly 48 years, Gene Garner of Pollock; son Neal Garner and devoted partner Caroline Skipp of Houston, Texas; daughter, Rene Pugh and husband, Bill Pugh of Boerne, Texas; grandchildren, Anastasia, Charles and Elizabeth Garner and their loving mother Karen Garner of Baton Rouge, Samantha, Julia and Garner Pugh of Boerne, Texas; sister Irene Sandell and husband Jack of Pineville; brother Kay H. Cooley of Liberty, Texas; brother-in-law Robert Garner and wife Brenda of Sherrills Ford, North Carolina; niece Tammy Lee of Lafayette and an extended family full of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Charles Garner, Garner Pugh, Matthew Lee, Andrew Lee, Brandon Scroggs, and Keith Boone.
Honorary pallbearers are Robert Garner, Kay H. Cooley and Jack Sandell.
Gene and the family would like to express warm gratitude to the staff of Woods Haven Nursing Home in Pollock and Oasis Hospice Care for the special care shown to Margaret over the last few months. Our family has been truly blessed by your serving with your whole heart.
Margaret will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
