Mary Helen Decuir
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Helen Decuir will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 31, 2012 at St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Alexandria with Reverends James Ferguson, Dan O'Connor and Adam Travis officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, Deville under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Hixson Brothers, Pineville Sunday, December 30, 2012 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. and continued Monday from 8:00 a.m. until shortly before time of service. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Decuir, 81, of Pineville, passed away Friday, December 28, 2012 at her residence.
Mrs. Decuir was a parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, Alexandria. She was a former parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Deville, Director of Religious Education, Member of the Altar Society, a Discalced Carmelite and served as a Billings Family Planning Counselor all for St. John's. She was a veteran of the United States Air Force
serving during the Korean War
as a radar operator. Mrs. Decuir was a member of the American Legion Post 900, Alexandria and volunteered as a pink lady at Rapides Regional Medical center for many years.
Her husband of 25 years, Francis Decuir; parents, Barton Blaine and Winifred Helen Roberts Cortright and brothers, Michael Cortright and Barton Cortright, precede her in death.
Those left to cherish his memory include son, Michael Morgan of Alexandria; daughters, Teresa Burnaman of Pollock, Judith Mixon and husband, Michael of Pineville and Frances Guinn of Pineville; brother, Richard Cortright of Phoenix, Arizona; sister, Suzanne Mowrer of Gallup, New Mexico; eight grandchildren, Jeremy Bray of Newport News, Virginia, Cody Leavines of Alexandria, Andrew Mixon, Mary Kathryn Mixon, Caitlin Beaubouef, Madelyn Townley, Mariah Morgan and Vanessa Morgan all of Pineville.
Pallbearers honored to service will be Cody Leavines, Doug Knapp, Andrew Mixon, Michael Deville, Tripp Prestridge and Vincent Marinelli.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital P.O. Box 3704 Memphis, Tennessee 38173-0704.
