Mattie Mae Jennings

Mattie Mae Jennings was called home on Sunday, December 2, 2012 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She began her life on September 6, 1914 in the Egypt in Richland parish to Fird & Ellen Robinson. Her family later moved to Monroe, Louisiana.

She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Matthew Baptist Church in Mangham, Louisiana. She attended school in Richland and Ouachita parishes.

She was the devoted and beloved sibling of three (3) brothers: Vassie, Frank, and Elester; and three (3) sisters; Alva, Josephine and Naomi all whom preceded her in death.

During WWII she relocated to Alexandria where she met Hardie Jennings. The two were united in holy matrimony in 1941. To this union one child was born; Carolyn Faye.

She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church where she attended Sunday School, Women's Mission and was a member of the Deaconess Board & past chairlady.

During her years of employment, Mrs. Jennings held the positions of a cook, retail sales clerk, and a foster grandparent at Pinecrest State Hospital. In addition, she also cherished offering frozen cups to the neighborhood children.

Mrs. Jennings leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Carolyn (Henry), a granddaughter, Von, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends.
