Murphy Glennon Gorum

Funeral services for Murphy Glennon Gorum will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 23, 2014, in the Mora House of Prayer, Mora, La with Reverends Lane Fletcher and Roger George officiating. Interment will follow in the Flatwoods Cemetery, Flatwoods, La. under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mr. Gorum, age 84, of Boyce entered eternal rest on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at his residence with his family by his side. The family ask that visitation be observed at the Mora House of Prayer in Mora on Tuesday, from 5:00 - 9:00 P.M., again on Wednesday, April 23, from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at 1:00 P.M.
He was born May 6, 1929 in Temple, La. to the union of John and Nezzie Dillion Gorum. He was a United States Army
Vet and a 57 year retired pipefitter of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 247. He was one of the Founding members of Flatwoods Volunteer Fire Department and was honored as the Volunteer Firefighter of the year of 1995. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was a man never to ask for help but would lay his toils down to help others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nezzie Gorum; father and mother in law, Pinkie and Ethel Edwards; brothers, Marvin Gorum, Roland Gorum; daugher in law, Pam Gorum; sister in law, Octavia Jarzyna.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Lena Edwards Gorum; one son, Kenneth Gorum of Gardner; one daughter, Diana Gorum Holmes (Chuck) of Flatwoods; one granddaughter, Jodie Gorum; one brother in law, Joseph Jarzyna; three sisters, Annie Ruth Greer, Carol Guidry Marler (Carl) and Kathy Brown (Larry); numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers to serve will be: Steve Gorum, Joe Leviner, Sheldon Gorum, Gary Guidry, Lowell Brown, Landon Brown. Honorary Pallbearers: Joe Jarzyna and Larry Brown.
