Funeral services for Mr. Otis Thrasher will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2013 in First United Pentecostal Church, Turkey Creek with Reverends Jeff Wainwright & E. L. Thornton officiating. Interment will follow in Turkey Creek Cemetery under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mr. Thrasher, 86, of Turkey Creek entered eternal rest on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 in his residence with his loving family by his side.
Otis served in the United States Army
during World War II
. He was a board member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Turkey Creek for forty-three years. He was a heavy equipment operator for fifty-three years. His hobbies included gardening, hunting and fishing. He was a loving father, grandfather, uncle and husband who will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by mother and father, Tom and Mary Thrasher; two sisters, Genieve Thrasher Blood and Addie Bell Thrasher Deshotel; two brothers, Luckette Thrasher and Lloyd "L.J." Thrasher and one grandson, Chad Carlton Thrasher.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife of sixty-three years, Muriel Clark Thrasher of Turkey Creek; two sons, Terry Carlton Thrasher and his wife, Sue of Turkey Creek; two daughters, Carolyn Thrasher Sharp and her husband, Donnie of Walker and Sandra Thrasher King and her husband, Bo of Turkey Creek; four brother, Jimmy Thrasher of Turkey Creek, J. C. Thrasher "Frog" of Forest Hill, Donald Wayne Thrasher of Pine Prairie and Thomas Thrasher of Easton; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers honored to serve are Derrick Thrasher, William Otis "BeBe" Thrasher, Kevin Clark, Shawn Williams, Jimmy Maher, Greg Clark, Lucas Thrasher, Landon Williams, Brennan Maher and Dextor Wainwright.
Friends may call at First United Pentecostal Church, Turkey Creek on Friday, August 30, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. and on Saturday, August 31, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services at 2:00 p.m.
