Robert "Bob" Golladay Sturgeon

Funeral srvices for Robert "Bob" Golladay Sturgeon will be Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Bunkie with the Rev. Michael McIntosh officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Pythian Cemetery under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.

Mr. Sturgeon, age 92, of Bunkie, passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2013 at the Bailey House Assisted Living. He was a native of Butler, Missouri. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, having received two Bronze Star medals for the Battles of France (Hatten) and Germany. He was a Staff Sargeant with the 242nd Infanrty of the 42nd Division, serving under General Dwight Eisenhower. He was also a Bandsman with the 91st and 42nd Infantry Divisions and played dance music for the U.S.O. He retired from TWA Airlines as an aircraft mechanic.

He is survived by his wife, Winona McCoy Sturgeon of Bunkie.

Visitation will be at the First Baptist Church of Bunkie on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 from 2:30 p.m. until service time.
