Ruth R. Rainey

Ruth Elaine Robinson Rainey born March 20, 1927 in Alexandria, Louisiana passed away after a short illness on March 1, 2013. A Celebration of Her Life will be held in a few weeks. "Rue", as she was lovingly called by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, was a loving mother, mother in law, grandmother, and great grandmother. She lived her life for her family teaching the true meaning of absolute and unconditional love. The beautiful smile that lit her face when speaking of loved ones and just enjoying life was a thing to delight in. She was once described as "the mother in law you would want to order if that was a possibility". Always fiercely independent, she lived a full life and had a circle of dear friends.

She was a graduate of LSU and member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. She was also a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, RSVP, Caladium Garden Club and a Volunteer at Rapides Regional Medical Center for 25+ years.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Leonard Lee Rainey, her parents John M. Robinson and Louise Robinson, and one sister Millie "Butchie" Foote.

She is survived by one son, Dr. John Malcolm Rainey and wife SuSu; two daughters, Lynn and husband Ralph Savoie of Baton Rouge; and Vickie and husband Dr. Christopher Rich of Alexandria. Her grandchildren are Dr. John Matthew Rainey and wife Sally of Ville Platte; Scott Rainey and wife Mandy of Broussard; Leonard Rainey and fiancée Megan Bourgeois of Shreveport; Jennifer Savoie and fiancée Sidney Torres of New Orleans; Marc Savoie of New Orleans; and Jeffrey Rich , Margaret Rich, and Stacie Rich of Alexandria. Her five great grandchildren are William Rainey, Jackson Rainey, John Scott Rainey, Andrew Rainey, and Jae Rainey.
