Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Vera (nee Deville) Gardner will be at 2 PM, Saturday, December 28, 2013 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Pineville with the Rev. Jack Knapp and Rev. Harvey Belgard officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Gardner, 85 formerly of Pineville, was a breast-cancer survivor who lost her 21-month courageous battle with Alzheimer's Disease on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at her son's home in Longview, Texas.

Mrs. Gardner retired from Central Louisiana State Hospital after 28 years of service as Director of Housekeeping.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Calvin and Minnie (nee Morace) Deville of Deville; two brothers J.C. Deville of Vidalia, and Clyde Deville of Deville; in addition to her loving husband of 58 years, Otis E. Gardner of Pineville.

Survivors include her son, Ronald Gardner and his wife, Frankie (nee Willbanks) Gardner of Longview, Texas; a brother, Herley Wayne Deville of Deville; a sister, Linda (nee Deville) Littleton of Ball; two randchildren, Walter ("Terry") Gardner of Dallas, Texas; Kristy Garris and her husband, Kenneth, of Gilmer, Texas; and a great granddaughter, Miranda Garris of Gilmer, Texas.

Pallbearers will be: Bill Beulow, Jason Chapman, Willis Floyd, John W. Price, L.R. Reed, J.W. Ryder.

Friends may call from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Friday, December, 27th and from noon until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
