Samuel "Sammy" Couvillon
Funeral services for Mr. Samuel "Sammy" Couvillon will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2013 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marksville. A private burial will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home of Marksville.
Mr. Couvillon, age 70 of Marksville, passed away on Friday, January 4, 2012 in the Brouillette Community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gradney and Ina Couvillon and father-in-law, Noba Bordelon.
Mr. Sammy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was a native and resident of Marksville, 1959 graduate of Marksville High School and a 1964 graduate of L.S.U. in Baton Rouge. He recently retired as the Avoyelles Parish Clerk of Court after 33 years in office. His pride and joy was his family and serving the people of Avoyelles Parish.
Survivors include his wife, Claudette Couvillon of Marksville, two sons, Cain Couvillon and wife Sarah of Pineville, Caleb Couvillon of Baton Rouge, two grandchildren, Addison and Cooper Couvillon of Pineville, one brother, Don Couvillon of Lafayette, one sister, Sue Laprairie and husband Keith of Marksville, mother- in- law, Earline Bordelon of Bordelonville, sister-in-laws, Renella Pastor of Bordelonville, Anita Clark of Walker, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be, Robert "Bobby" Dupuy, Mike Moreau Sr., Clint Pierson, Curtis Roy, Clay Couvillon, and Hart Bourque. Honorary pallbearers will be, David Couvillon, Vic Saucier, Pat Juneau, Glenn Goudeau, John Maillet, Billy Bennett, Eddie Knoll, Sr., William Rosenthal, Mike Moreau, Jr., Heath Pastor, and Peter Couvillon. Cross bearer will be Addison Couvillon.
Visitation will be held at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until shortly before the time of services. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:15 p.m. on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations made to the Marksville United Methodist Church or St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marksville in memory of Mr. Sammy Couvillon.
