Stewart Ray Lester
Funeral services for Stewart Lester will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013 in the Chapel of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael McIntosh officiating. Burial will follow in the Pythian Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Stewart Lester, age 90 of Bunkie, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at Bayou Vista Nursing Home.
Stewart Ray Lester was born in Mt. Lebanon, LA on September 5, 1923, the son of Stewart E. Lester and Clara Smith Lester. They moved to Bunkie when he was 3 years old.
Stewart was a graduate of Bunkie High School and Dallas Aviation School, Dallas, Texas. He served his country for more than two years during World War II
, 3rd Battalion Field Artillery at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. He married Harolyn Moore of Duncan, Oklahoma on November 22, 1945. In 1948 they moved back to Bunkie and he began his business as a Mobil cosignee and retired after 30 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church Bunkie, and a devoted husband and father.
Survivors include his wife; Harolyn Moore Lester of Bunkie; a daughter, Suzanne Lester Hunter and her husband Walter of Shreveport; a son, Randy Lester and his wife Shelly of Lafayette; one granddaughter, Stefanie Aguillard and her husband Caleb of Lafayette; two grandsons, Stewart Hunter of Frisco, Texas and Marshall Hunter of Plano, Texas; and 4 great-grandchildren, Beau and Madison Hunter and Lexie and Noah Aguillard.
Mr. Lester is preceded in death by his parents, Stewart and Clara Lester; two sisters, Elizabeth Dupree and Margaret Grant; one brother, Jack Robert Lester and an infant daughter, Pamela Lester.
Pallbearers will include: Stewart Hunter, Marshall Hunter, Caleb Aguillard, Terry Miller, Marlin Saltzman and Billy Townsend.
Honorary pallbearers will include: Steve Grant, Ron Grant, Michael Lester, Ronald Richard, Wayne Stalsby, John Boatner and Joe Dufour.
Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
