Funeral Services for Tillie Cloe Grant Lowery will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday December 20, 2012, in Horseshoe Drive United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tracy McKenzie officiating. Interment will follow in Fellowship United Methodist Cemetery, Hineston under the direction of John Kramer & Son.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Wednesday December 19, 2012 at the funeral home and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Tillie Cloe Grant Lowery, age 88, of Alexandria passed away Monday December 17, 2012 at the V.A. Medical Center.

She is preceded in death by her parents O.E. Grant and Bena Shaw Grant Grantham, her step-father Jesse Grantham; one son Dr. James Michael "Mike" Lowery; her husband James Sleet Lowery and one grandson Gary Shane Carroll.

Tillie was a graduate of Boyce High School and attended NSU where she graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. She served in the Women's Army Core from October 1944 until January 1949. Tillie retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and was a member of HDUMC. She was an excellent bowler and an avid sports fan.

Tillie is survived by one daughter Laurie Lowery Heider of Alexandria ; four granddaughters Melissa Carroll of Alexandria, twins Jayme and Jessica King of Alexandria and Erin Heider McDonnell and husband Justin of Keithville, LA; six great grandchildren Carlos Carroll, Jalexia King, Jaylon King, Devon King, Kaleigh McDonnell and Caleb Stanfield.

Pallbearers honored to serve are Tommy Slatten, Jason Heider, George Thorpe and Justin McDonnell.
