Vivian J. "Dear" Bennett

Services for Sister Vivian J. "Dear" Bennett will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2012, at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Reverend Stanley R. Mathis officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

The family requests that visitation be observed Saturday at Zion Hill Baptist Church from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Bennett departed this life on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.

She was a math teacher in Rapides Parish for over thirty years. In addition to her service as an educator, she was very active in numerous church organizations.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Brother David Jones, Jr. and Sister Mary Prudhomme Jones; her husband, Rev. R. B. Bennett, Sr.; four sisters, Mrs. Annie B. Jackson, Mrs. Tena Thomas, Mrs. Veronica Gamble, Mrs. Gussie Prevot, and two brothers, Mr. M.H. Jones and Col. David Jones; three step-children, Emma Bennett Roy, Richard Bennett, Jr. and Clyde Ray Bennett.

Those left to cherish her loving memories include one son, Melvin Davis (Patricia), of Alexandria, Louisiana; two sisters, Ms. E.B. Jones of Alexandria, Louisiana, Mrs. Mary E.J. Lever of Oakland, California; two grandchildren, Anthony Wardsworth of Dallas, Texas, Ericka Reed (Tommy) of Chesnee, South Carolina; fifteen step-grandchildren, and a number of great grandchildren; two God children, Alice Coleman and Princeton Pullens; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
