Wallace Lee Hodges
Funeral services for Wallace Lee Hodges will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, June 19, 2013, in the White Oaks Memorial Chapel of Oakdale with Reverend Falis Holloway officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Fort Polk honor guard. Committal services will follow in the Amiable Cemetery of Glenmora under the guidance of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Jesus called Mr. Hodges, 71, of Forest Hill, home on Sunday, June 16, 2013 in his residence. He was born on March 17, 1942 in Glenmora to the union of Herman Leon Hodges and Juel Viola Sanders Hodges. He entered the United States Army
in 1959 in Mississippi. He served in Vietnam as a cook. He was stationed in Louisiana, Mississippi, Fort Clayton Panama, Germany, Alaska, White Sands, and Okinawa. He worked at the V.I.P. Headquarters at Fort Richardson, Alaska. In 1980, he retired from the military. Mr. Hodges enjoyed cooking for his family. His hobbies included gardening, playing the guitar with his son Mathieu, golf and archery with his children and grand children. He loved praising the Lord through his guitar. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman Leon and Juel Viola Sanders Hodges; one brother, Larry Hodges; and one sister, Regina Wilkerson.
He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memory, his loving wife of forty-eight years, Majory June Collins Hodges of Forest Hill; two sons, Shannon Hodges and wife Virginia of Temple, Texas and Mathieu and wife Brenda of Salado, Texas; one daughter, Lisa Lee Hodges of Harker Heights, Texas; one sister, Sandra Thompson of Forest Hill,; four grandchildren, Jody, Jarrett, Sara, and Marshal all of Central Texas; and a host of family and friends.
Pallbearers to serve will be Marshal Hodges, Jarrett Hodges, Burt Wells, Kevin Thompson, Mathieu Hodges, and Shannon Hodges
Friends may call today from 6 pm until 8 pm then on Wednesday, June 19 from 9 am service time in the chapel.
