Warren J. Ortego

Warren J. Ortego 85 a native of Evergreen and a resident of Marksville passed away on November 3, 2012 at St. Francis Cabrini Medical Center in Alexandria.

Warren joined the Navy Seabees at the age of 16 in May of 1945 and served in the Pacific Theater in WWII and was reactivated for the Korean War. Warren ran his own construction company for a number of years he also owned and operated a number of independent businesses. He was never afraid to try something new. He was active, feisty and independent up until his death. He loved his children and family very much and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be on Wednesday November 7, 2012 at Seale Funeral Home, Denham Springs from 1:00pm until a memorial service celebrating his life at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial with full military honors will be scheduled at a late date.

He is survived by his children and their spouses Norma Jean "Jeannie" Carruth (Mark), John R Ortego (Mary), Michael M Ortego, Richard Ortego, Phillip Ortego (Susan) and step son Jerry Prevatt; sisters Evelyn Sharp (Jerry) and Aline Schexnaydre; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 8 great great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Rosama Ducote Ortego, father Clemile Ortego and brother Murphy Ortego.
