Elmer Wallace Obituary
Funeral services for Mr. Elmer Wallace will be held on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Big Hammock Baptist Church, Leander, Louisiana. Burial will be at Mt Moriah in the Cora Community under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, Louisiana.
Mr. Wallace, age 92, passed away in Rapides Regional Medical Center, Thursday August 18, 2016.
Elmer was a native of Leander, LA. He retired after 24 years as a rural mail carrier for the US Postal Service. He was a deacon at Big Hammock Baptist Church in Leander. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in the 86th Chemical Battalion during World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He enjoyed spending time with his church and his family and will be dearly missed by his family & his church family.
Elmer is preceded in death by his parents, Rufus & Sarah Wallace; his wife, Ommie Bounds Wallace; his sisters, Nina Barton, Ella Wilson; his brothers, Dewitt Wallace, Marvin Wallace, Carl Wallace & Archie Wallace.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Sheila Wallace of Leander; his sons, James Wallace (Linda) of Farmerville, Ennis Wallace (Dody) of Leander; his sister, Almeta Bonnett of Alexandria; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, numerous nieces & nephews & one double first cousin, Clarence Goleman.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 20, 2016, at Big Hammock Baptist Church in Leander, Louisiana from 5 pm until time of service on Sunday.
Pallbearers honored to serve are Trampus Barton, Calvin Farmer, Heath Wallace, David Wallace, Casey Wallace & Alan Wallace. Honorary Pallbearers are Robin Bonnett & Robert Wilson.

MR. ELMER FIXED OUR OLD TV ON OCCASION AND DADDY, BEING A MECHANIC, WORKED ON HIS VEHECLES, LAWN MOWERS, ETC. HE HAD 2 GEESE ALWAYS IN HIS YARD AND MY BROTHER AND I KEEP BOTH EYES ON THEM. THEY WOULD TRY AND GET US. LOL. LINDA LEWIS KIRKWOOD

Mr. Elmer and Sheila were the last people, other than our immediate family, that visited my dad the day before he died. That day he said, "B. G. you need to get well, you have to preach my funeral." He loved Mr. Elmer and all the Wallace family very much and I know that they are already talking about "the good old days." God Bless you all.

i am so sorry for your loss. Elmer was awesome great outstanding man. He is going to be missed very much but he has left a wonderful legacy behind He touched everyone he ever met and spoke to. The reunion is not going to be the same but we will cherish his memory forever. Sheila you are the best daughter anyone could ever have both of your parents loved you so much and so proud of you. I love you. Put your trust in God I know how hard this is for you. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
