Clyde George Obituary

Clyde W. George

Homegoing services for Clyde W. George will be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2017 in the Sieper Community Church, 932 Highway 465, Sieper, Louisiana 71472 with Reverend Norman Rester, Reverend Louis Magee, Reverend George Lee Glass, and Clyde's son, Danny officiating. Committal service will follow in the Fellowship Cemetery in Hineston under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Just before dawn, on Saturday morning, June 24, 2017, Clyde W. George closed his eyes to forever be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The patriarch of The George Family has left his indelible mark upon the family he cherished with all his heart. He was born October 28, 1928 in Stilley to the union of Willie George and Josephine Funderburk George. Clyde served our country in the United States Army and retired from the Louisiana National Guard as Sergeant Major with 36 years of service. He was presently serving his 3rd term as Constable of Ward 5, Court 5, of Rapides Parish.

Clyde and Wanda attended Camp 8 United Pentecostal Church for 64 years. For the past year, they have worshipped at Sieper Community Church, pastored by their son. Clyde's anchor was God and family…he loved sports, reading, gardening, being outside, working with anything, and most of all, he loved hunting and being with his friends at O'Neal Parker's Bird Camp. And finally, he loved his furry friend, Blackie.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Willie Ruth Long and Connie Marler; and one brother, Ellie George.

Remaining behind is the matriarch of The George Family, Clyde's sweetheart and loving wife of 65 plus years, Wanda Lea Melder George. Also, three sons that carry his name with honor: Jerry (wife Tammy), Jeff, and Danny (wife Audrey). Additionally, three grandsons, guardians of the 'George' name for the next generation: Will, Jeremy, and Chase; five granddaughters: Jamie, Sarah, Emily, Maeghan, and Shelby; eight great grandchildren; and one sister, Clovis 'Ginger' Brooks.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Chase George, Jeremy George, Will George, Clayton Brister, Nubbin Melder, Alan Clark, and Keith Brunson. Honorary pallbearers to serve will be Sheriff William Earl Hilton, Judge Harry Randow, Connor Brunson, Ronald Harper, Louis O'Quinn, Charlie Brunson, L.E. Brunson, Earl Monk, Michael J. Tassin, Bill Cedus, and members of O'Neal Parker's Bird Camp.

Visitation will be held at Sieper Community Church on Monday, June 26, 2017 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., then on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 8 a.m. until time of service in the church at 10 a.m.

To Mr. Clyde's family I would like to say what a wonderful man he was and I was so humbled to call him a friend. I know he will be sadly missed by many. Know that you all are in Mary's and my prayers. May GOD put his loving arms around you in this time of loss.
