I am sooooo sorry to hear about Velva's passing! I met Velva, as she did visitation, and brought me into the Alexandria church. She helped me a lot and babysat my daughter Teri until we moved to WA state in 1967. All my condolences and best wishes to Brother Bobby and her children.

I didn't know her, but she was my mother's first cousin. They are in Heaven together now. May she rest in peace.

Aunt Velva you will be missed by so many. I am so glad growing up to have you as my second mom. And I'm so honored for the times that I was able to cook for you and Uncle Bobby and Mama and Aunt Patty I will cherish those memories forever and the ones I have of when I was growing up. You definitely won many souls to God and I know you are up there dancing on the streets of gold right now with no pain just having a good time. I know Uncle Bobby will miss you and your children and grandkids and family and I know Mom is going to miss you. Thank you for being such a positive role model in my life growing up until we meet again love you.

Dear Bobby, I will never forget the times we had together in Baton Rouge when you were in school there. Connie and I, with Arita, our first child, shared some enjoyable fellowship. Velva and I traveled back and forth to Alexandria, talking, laughing, and crying together, sharing our thoughts and times with the Lord. I have a picture of Arita and Floyd in the baby bed together during one of our visits to your apartment. Precious memories! You and Velva have always been such examples of Godly conduct and loving kindness in your relationship with each other and the great love for witnessing to those who do not know Him. What a woman of faith. She surely ran her race and was a joy to all of us who were blessed to know her through the years.
I pray the comfort of God's presence carry you and your children and family through this season of loss with the knowledge that we shall meet again on that beautiful shore.
Love,
Patsy Lewis

Bobby,

Please accept my condolences for the loss of your precious wife. The indelible imprint you left with me as a young single adult starting our vocational careers together is how you treasured your wife, Velva. I always remembered you referencing her with grace and how she filled your life with love, joy, goodness, patience, peace and gentleness. Velva was a devout Christian. Jesus told us in John 14:2-4 that his Father's house has many rooms and that He has prepared one for believers. Velva knew the way to her room. That is where she is today. Your comfort is knowing that you will join her, wiping every tear from your eyes, no more mourning, no more crying, no more pain.

You will be missed Velva. I have so many memories way back in the day. You were so sweet and kind. And a second mom to me. I love you and know you have no more pain. Will see you one day on the streets of gold.

We have alot of good memories with Velva and Bobby in the past 34 years. It all started when they spent the weekend with us in May of 1983 so we could all plan Sharon and Floyd's wedding! We have shared many good times together, had alot of laughter, shared some tears and enjoyed our times together. The thing that I will remember the most was when her laughter would turn into snorting!! We all would laugh until tears was rolling down our checks! She will be greatly missed, but there is joy in knowing she is with the Lord and not suffering anymore. God Bless You Velva, love from Pat and Larry.
