First, I apologize because I have no memories of Miss Irble but I would like to share memories of Mrs. Alma and Uncle Bud. Their home and her garden remain vivid in my mind. Mrs. Alma walked to Melder to the store and post office every day; Uncle Bud was bedfast. Mrs. Alma was just a wisp of a person, small but no doubt strong. This memory seems to be of a 10-year period; probably not that long. Miss Alma had a thriving garden. It was long, running alongside the road next to the house. The strawberries, oh the strawberries. I can still remember walking through the paths of that garden, avoiding the strawberries. Mrs. Alma seemed to come by our house every day bringing a paper sack full of vegetables; that could not possibly be so but it happened so often that it seems so. It seemed like there were built in shelves in Mrs. Alma's kitchen that were filled with canned vegetables and fruits. When I was 5 or 6, Mrs. Alma and Mrs. Mattie Rhame were my Sunday School teachers. They taught me the old Bible stories and I remember them so vividly. I still have on the shelf in my living room the big book of Bible stories they gave me. Mrs. Alma was a wonderful Christian, gentle and kind, giving. Mrs. Irble's life story sounds like an extension of Mrs. Alma but I know she was her own dear person. May this be of some comfort.

May 22, 2017
Our family is unable to attend but as a small child I remember visiting Uncle Bud and Aunt Alma and eating fresh strawberries from their garden. I remember that my sister Bobbye and brother-in-law Junior were close friends with Irble and Douglas and spent alot of time together. I'll always remember Irble's smile and kindness as a person. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time of loss.
