Services celebrating the life of Benny Dale Swor, Sr. will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 15, 2013, at Pollock First Baptist Church with Reverends Dwayne Rogers, Jacob Vollm and Huey Tarpley officiating. Burial will follow at Friendship cemetery under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville.
The family asks that visitation be observed Sunday, July 14, 2013 at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and resume Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Mr.Swor, 83, of Pollock, passed from this life on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at his residence.
He proudly served our country in the United States Air Force as a Flight Engineer during the Korean War and the Vietnam Conflict, retiring in 1970 with twenty-three years of service. He was a member of Anchor Masonic Lodge # 261 F & A M, El Karubah Shrine Temple, 32nd degree Scottish Rite, York Rite and the Cenla Shrine Club Oriental Band. Benny was the Shop Foreman for Cenla Ambulance for over twenty years and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother that will be deeply missed by those that knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Agnes Perry Swor and two brothers, Billy Bert Swor and Dewey Quintin Swor.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of fifty-eight years, Shirley Granger Swor; sons, Benny Swor, Jr and wife, Marilyn, Barry Clinton Swor ; daughters, Karen Lynn McManus and husband, Gene, Beth Ellen Eubanks and husband, Steven; six grandchildren, Gene McManus, Jr., Ben Swor, Blair McManus, Brandy Swor, Savannah Swor and Michelle Swor; two great-grandchildren, Caroline McManus and Braeden Sloan; brother, Lloyd Malone Swor and wife, Nancy and a sister, Evelyn Valine Collard and husband, Skip.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be David Perry, Jerrell Perry, Julian Perry, Todd Frost, Col. Marshall Swor, Loren Swor, Gene McManus, Jr. and Ben E. Swor. Honorary pallbearers are Ralph Brown, James "Tump" Frost, James "Jimmy" T. Hammond ,the deacons of , Pollock First Baptist Church and the members of Cenla Shriners Oriental Band.
