Services will be Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 11 am. at Live Oak Baptist Church with Dr. James Hardison, Sr. officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories under the direction of Progressive Funeral Home.
Friends may view after 9 am. on Wednesday at the church.
Reverend Booker T. Hinkston, Sr. was born in Frogmore, on November 25, 1927 to the late Reverend Sam Hinkston and Martha White Hinkston.
Reverend Hinkston accepted Christ at an early age, he worked untiringly in different organizations and ministries throughout his life. He served in the Military where he was Honorably Discharged. He was a very unselfish man always had a kind word for everyone. He counseled and taught the word to anyone he came in contact with. He was the Pastor of the First Congregational Baptist Church of Marksville. For over 20 years where he served faithfully until his retirement. He was associate Pastor of Eastern Star, Progressive and Union Baptist Churches.
He is preceded in death by his parents (4) brothers Willie Hinkston, Oscar Hinkston, Henry (HW) Hinkston, and Noah Hinkston, (3) sisters: Martha Hinkston, Luseal (Hinkston) Holly and Galatha (Hinkston) Mays, (2) daughters Janice Faye (Wallace) Hardy, and Corliss E. (Hinkston) Lowe.
He leaves to mourn and cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Mrs. Gloria S. (Bruins) Hinkston; other survivors include: Ronald T. Hinkston of Alexandria, William T. Broadus South Carolina; Martha (Vernon) Mackbee of Alexandria; Jacqueline D. King of Pineville; D'Wanna M. Minnard of Virginia Beach, Varginia; Constance E. Brown, of Ball; Brenda A. Hinkston (Samuel), Gloria J. (Kenneth) Quinney, Stephanie R. (James) Hardison, Jr., Booker T. Hinkston, Jr., Calvin (Zelda) Hinkston of Alexandria, Angela S. Hinkston, of Alexandria, Cadedra Hinkston of New Orleans, (2) brothers: Rev. Henry (Willie Jean) Hinkston, of Oakland California; Deacon Joseph (Annette) Hinkston of Ferriday, (2) sisters Bishop Eloise H. Collins of Oakland California; Evangelist Ruthie M. (Albert) Sanders of Jackson Mississippi (3) Aunts: Dorothy W. Brackens, Anna W. Warren of Ferriday; Ellen (Richmond) White of Alexandria (2) brothers in law: Rev. Dave Mays of Jonesville, and Rev. Tom Holly of Long Beach California and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
