Chanan Gerald Hambleton

Chanan Gerald Hambleton, 76, of Alexandria, Louisiana, died Monday, July 16, 2012, in Alexandria.

Mr. Hambleton, a native of Winnfield, Louisiana, and a 1954 graduate of Winnfield High School, was a U.S. Army veteran and a Louisiana Tech University alumnus.

Once having served as president of the local Press Club, Mr. Hambleton was a journalist who worked at the Alexandria Daily Town Talk, winning several awards for excellence in reporting, and as the news director for KSYL radio. He was also a consultant for the Rapides Parish Police Jury.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Etta Hambleton; brother, Miles Hambleton; and sister, June Buffington.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Hambleton; son, John Hambleton (Natalie), Dallas, Texas; daughters, Orinda Duncan, Sulfur, Louisiana, and Chandra Hambleton, Alexandria, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Conner Bracken, Mariana Duncan, and Amy Duncan; sister-in-law, Carola Hambleton, White Oak, Texas; several nieces and nephews, and a very close friend of the family, Susan Sims, Alexandria, Louisiana.
