Donald N. Parks, 87, of Hobe Sound, Florida, died October 6, 2012, at Treasure Coast Hospice, Stuart.
Don was born in Detroit, and lived in Hobe Sound since 1982. He served in the Army Air Corp, then graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design as an industrial designer. He was President of the N.W. Parks Company, Meriden, Conn. Upon retirement he and his wife, Verna, moved from Southington, Conn, to live aboard their boat cruising the East Coast, Florida waters, and the Bahamas for a number of years. Once settling on dry land in Hobe Sound, Don worked for Stuart Yacht as a marine carpenter for several years. He was a past member of the Hobe Sound Art League and the Treasure Coast Radio Control Aero Modelers.
Survivors include a son, Norman David Parks, and his wife, Pixie, of Mansfield Center, Conneticut, a daughter, Laura Callery, and her husband, David, of Hobe Sound, a sister, Marilyn Hysen of Howell, Michigan, a brother, Harry Parks of Pineville, a step-brother, Paul Parks of El Paso, Texas, a step-sister, Susie Brown, of Lyme, Conn, and three grandchildren, Alicia Azzi of New York City, Krista Keeler of Hobe Sound, and Andrew Parks of So. Windsor, Conneticut.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Verna E. Parks in 2000.
