Evelyn Gianfala Gravel

Funeral services for Evelyn Gianfala Gravel of Alexandria will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with Reverend Chris Nayak and Reverend Dan O'Connor officiating. Interment will be at Greenwood Memorial Park under the direction of John Kramer & Son.

Mrs. Gravel, 89, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2012, in Alexandria. She was a native of Berwick and a resident of Alexandria.

Evelyn served as the president of Gianfala & Son Oil Field Construction Co. For over twenty years, she served as the Chairman of the Louisiana State Board of Tax Appeals. She supported live theatre by serving on the board of the Swine Palace Theatre in Baton Rouge, as well as taking active roles with the Little Theatre of Alexandria and Crowley. In addition, she served as a legislative assistant for State Senators William Cleveland and Jamar Adcock.

She is survived by her children by heart: Lana Keigley and her husband William Keigley, Jr., and Maxine Guidry, all of Crowley; three nephews: Kenneth Gianfala of Church Point, Byron Gianfala of Lafayette, and Bill Gianfala of Church Point; three nieces: Pamela Hebert of Breaux Bridge, Susan Constantine of Bloomington, Indiana, and Lilly Gianfala of Church Point; three stepsons: Grady David Gravel of Lafayette, Mark Alan Gravel of Alexandria, and Charles Gregory Gravel and his wife, Elycia, of Alexandria; five stepdaughters: Ann G. Vanderslice and her husband, Stephen J. Vanderslice of Alexandria, Eileen G. Cappel and her husband, Richard B, Cappel, of Lake Charles, Martha G. Antoon and her husband, Thomas A. Antoon of Alexandria, Virginia G. Carbo of Alexandria, and Margaret Lynn Gravel of Alexandria; and grandchild by heart Ashley Monceaux and her husband Christopher Monceaux of Crowley.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Camille F. Gravel, Jr.; two brothers, Sebastian Gianfala and Vito Gianfala, Jr.; one sister, Ninfa Gianfala Guidry; two nephews, Paul Gianfala and Victor Gianfala; and three stepchildren, Richard Alvin Gravel, Camille F. Gravel, III, and Eunice Holloman Gravel.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2012, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to be sent to Academy of the Sacred Heart, 1821 Academy Road, Grand Couteau, LA 70541 or Our Lady of Prompt Succor Building Fund, 409 21st St., Alexandria, LA 71301.
