Mrs. Speeg, 67, of Lafayette entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 2, 2013 in Magnolia Nursing Home, Lafayette.
Kay moved between Houma and Lafayette and enjoyed raising her children, spoiling them with the "little" things. During her years in Lafayette, she was employed with Service Merchandise, Brown's Jewelers, Park Lane Jewelry, Mother's Day Out at Asbury Methodist and Budget Western Inn as manager. After moving to Meridian Mississippi, she remarried and was employed as an apartment manager.
Kay enjoyed her retirement by camping and traveling all over the United States, visiting family and friends. Most of all, she enjoyed her children and grandchildren. "Granny Kay" loved to call and sing "Happy Birthday" and send skittles in the mail to her grandkids. Blessed with the gift of remembering birthdays and anniversaries, she would make people feel special by sending cards every year, until the time came when she was no longer able to send her love. Ending a phone call or in saying goodbye, her last words to you were always, "Love you more."
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Lester Speeg.; her parents, Percy Bihm and J. F. & Beatrice Pollard and one sister, Louise Barton.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include one son, Ashley Gordon of Nashville, Tennessee; two daughters, Julie Gordon Worrell and her husband, Randy of Venice, Florida and Connie Gordon Daigle and her husband, Dwayne of Lafayette; two step-daughters, Tracy Speeg and Melissa Speeg, both of Meridian, Mississippi; her step-mother, Velma Bihm of Opelousas; three sisters, Betty June Bihm of Conroe, Texas, Kathy Johnson and her husband, C.M. of Pitkin and Sherry Schysm and her husband, Doug of Longville; two step-brothers, Tony Lanclos and his wife, Phyllis of Opelousas and Glen Lanclos and his wife, Yogita of DeRidder; two step-sisters, Bonita LaFleur and her husband, Doug of Breaux Bridge and Kathleen Richard and her husband, Ricky of Opelousas and eleven grandchildren, Heather, Tiffany, Seth, Nathan, Hannah, Jonathan, Cade, Nicki, Ory, Megan and Tommy.
