Howell "Sonny" Eugene Addison, Sr.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Howell "Sonny" Eugene Addison, Sr. will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Pollock, with Reverend Donald Lemmons officiating, assisted by Reverend Sammy Morrow. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Pineville.
Visitation will be observed at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and continue on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be Patrick Addison, Thomas Maxwell, James Wooters, Grant Eloi, Ryan Reeves and Daron Maxwell.
Howell "Sonny" Eugene Addison, Sr., 88, of Prospect Community, passed from this life on Sunday, January 18, 2015, at Grace Home in Alexandria.
Sonny proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. During his working life he was a Pump Mechanic for Petron Oil and Gas. Sonny was a member, deacon and music director of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Pollock for many years. He and Mary were the first couple married at Baptist Temple in Alexandria where they were charter members.
Southern Gospel music was his love and he was a member of the Twin City Quartet and The Noblemen. Sonny was a sweet, humble and compassionate man who loved God and his family.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Louise Lemmons Addison; granddaughter, Samantha Diane Boren and his parents, Leslie and Ruby Tanner Addison.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Carolyn Louise Addison, Paula Diane Owen and husband, James, Kathryn Elaine Smith and husband, Andy, and Jeannie Miller and husband, Randy; son, Howell E. Addison, Jr. and wife, Rhonda; grandchildren, Michael Leon Boren, Jr., Erica Louise Smith, Leslie Blair Wooters, Lauren Beth Eloi, Thomas Henry Maxwell, Jessica Nicole Reeves, Patrick Howell Addison, Lindsay Paige Addison and Victoria Elaine Smith; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Sybil Elaine Ray and a host of other family members and friends.
