James Henry Williams
The Guest Book is expired.
On November 9, 1932 Lee and Vivian Fuller Willams welcomed their first child, James Henry. He was born in "God's Country" (Grant Parish) and grew up there among the red clay hills and piney wood trees. Not long after his birth he began combing the Sear's catalogue searching for a brother. It took a few years, but he finally got his order filled when Virgil Lee arrived. Although they weren't "ordered" by James, Virgil was followed by two girls, Mattie Frances (Gaspard) and Audie May (Mrs. Donald Cameron).
As a young man James began his working career with Obanion Hay Company. He had many stories of his adventures with the Obanions including stopping at Mrs. Hick's cafe in Boyce for lemon pie and coffee. As fate would have it, that treat was made by Kate W. Martin's daughter, Emma Jean. James loved the pie and coffee so much, he married Emma Jean in June 1955. Sadly, he learned later she did not make the lemon pie.
However, he kept her anyway, and three girls joined them to make a family. Martha Elizabeth (Collinsworth), Janice Marie and Cynthia Lynn. The family enlarged again in the 1980's with the marriage of Martha to Jay Collinsworth, the birth of James' only grandson (and clone), Benton Allen Collinsworth and the daughter of his heart, DC Sills.
In his later work life many came to know James as Mr. James from Billups on Masonic Drive. He left the Masonic station in the late 1980's and pursued many interests including employment with some great people from "the paint store", auto body repair store.
The sadest day of James' life was when his beloved youngest daughter died at the age of 34 in February 2002. Cindy was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Pineville along side Kate W Martin and his beloved "in laws", AM and Venita Martin.
On Saturday, February 23, 2013 James left us here on earth to join his beloved daughter, Cindy, his parents, Mr. Lee and Mrs. Vivian Williams, his sister, Mattie Frances Gaspard, nephew, Ed Cameron, his other family members and treasured friends. All who knew him that remain on this earth, will forever have both the joy of sharing his life and the huge loss of his kind heart.
Visitation with his family will be held, Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 5 to 9 pm at Hixson Brother's Funeral Home, Alexandria, LA. Funeral services conducted by James' cousin, John Raymond Williams, will follow the next day at 10 am in the Hixson Brother's Chapel on Jackson Street, Alexandria, LA. Immediately after the service James will be layed to rest beside Cindy at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball.
