Joan Marie Evans Bridges

Funeral services for Joan Marie Evans Bridges will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2012 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville with Reverend Lloyd Bye officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park, Pineville.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Hixson Brothers, Pineville Thursday, April 19, 2012 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. and continued Friday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Bridges, 77, of Pineville, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012.

Joan Bridges lived a purpose filled life as a loving sister, a caring nurse, a nurturing wife, a protective mother, an inspiring artist, a guiding aunt, and as a gentle grandmother and great grandmother. She was loved by many and touched more hearts than she knew.

Joan Bridges was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church. She was an accomplished artist, poet and storyteller and was named to the Encyclopedia of American Folk Art. Her artwork was featured in galleries across the United States including New York, Chicago and New Orleans.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Lee Bridges, Jr.; parents, Albert H. and Lilly Webb Evans; daughter, Christy Bridges Champion; and sister, Dorothy Bordelon.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Sam Bridges and wife Julie; and Robert Bridges and wife Midge; brother, Albert Evans; sisters, Ruth Inebnit, Bertha Bordelon, and Evelyn McLain; six grand-children, Edward, Rebecca, Olivia, Emmory, Amelia and Jonathon; and two great grand-children, Abigail and Charles.
