Josephine E. Samson Antee

Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine E. "Judy" Samson Antee will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 14, 2011, in the Mt. Olivet Chapel, Pineville, with the Reverend Fred H. Tinsley, Jr., Pastor Gregory Samson and Brother Joey Rudisill officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Pineville, under the direction of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Brandon Samson, Mark Burns, Christopher Burns, Ginger Windom, Malcolm L. Patterson and Rick Githens. Honorary pallbearer will be John Barrett Edgar, Jr.

Mrs. Antee, 89, a longtime resident of Alexandria, passed from this life Friday, March 11, 2011, at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria.

Mrs. Antee was a member of St. James Episcopal Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution and also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. During her working life, she worked in medical records and as a switchboard operator for Central State Hospital. She was an active Duplicate Bridge player and volunteered at St. Mary's Training School, Rapides Regional Medical Center and the Rapides Cancer Treatment Center.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Bernard Claude Samson, Sr. and Vernon P. Antee; a son, Bernard Claude Samson, Jr.; her grandchildren, Jamie Samson, Jonathan Samson and Charity Samson; her parents, John and Rosannah Barrett Edgar, and her seven brothers and sisters.

Josephine E. "Judy" Samson Antee leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Linda Samson Patterson of Freeport, Florida; Peggy Samson Authement of Kerrville, Texas, and Mary Samson Burns of Gardner; a son, Gregory Samson of Flagstaff, Arizona; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and a host of other family members and friends.

The family asks that friends call after 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria, and after 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday, at the Chapel of St. James Episcopal Church.

The family has suggested St. James Episcopal Church or Canterbury House for memorial contributions.
