Kent Lorel Babb

Graveside services for Kent Lorel Babb, 88 of Farmerville, LA, will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 12:00 P.M. at the Natchez National Cemetery in Natchez, Mississippi. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 24, 2014 at Laird Funeral Home, 408 North Union Street, Natchez, MS, under direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.

Kent passed away on March 19, 2014 at his home in Farmerville, LA. He was born on April 23, 1925 in Lecompte, La. to Barbara Beard Babb and Edward Samuel Babb. He is survived by his wife of forty years Carolyn Jackson Babb, and seven sons: Ronald Kent Babb and wife Stephanie, Rusty Babb and wife Janis, Marcus Edward Babb, Warren Keith Babb, Jerome B. Mitchum, Robert Mark Babb and wife Jennifer, Randal Curtis Babb and wife Michelle, twelve grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who lovingly called him "Honey".

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Edward Babb, Jr., and survived by Raymond Babb and sister-in-law Jenny and two sisters, Barbara Ann Clifford and Geraldine West.

Kent was a WWII veteran and proudly served his country being in the unit that fired the last shot. In recent years his unit celebrated a reunion in the Czech Republic where they were welcomed with a parade and heralded as Heros. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Farmerville, LA and also attended the Lake D'Arbonne Chapel. Kent previously lived in Monroe, LA., served on the auxillary police force and owned Central Signs for over twenty years. He and Carolyn moved to Farmerville in 1976 and started Babb Realty.
