Funeral services for Leona Russell Andrus will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, 2012 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria with Reverend Sam Russell and Carolyn Fletcher officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria Monday, March 26, 2012 from 4:00-9:00 p.m. and continued Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Andrus, 90, of Alexandria, passed away Friday, March 23, 2012 at CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.

Mrs. Andrus was a graduate of Bayou Chicot High School and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Alexandria. She retired after 32 years of service as office manager for Freedman Clinic, Alexandria. She was a special person who touched everyone's lives, always put other's needs above her own. She was affectionately known as "Aunt Lea" to family, was a great cook, loved her granddaughters and great grandsons very much and was the glue that held her family together, a true matriarch.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen R. Andrus; parents, James W. and Rosa Powell Russell; brothers, Jimmy Russell, Thurman Russell, Sammy Russell and Kenneth Russell; sisters, Lois Thomas, Clara Earnest and Juanita Tatman.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Greg Andrus and wife Barbara of Deville; sister, Geneva R. Walker of Alexandria; grandchildren, Amanda L. Andrus of Pineville and Stacey L. Andrus of Deville; great grandchildren, Mason A. Andrus and Maddox B. Andrus.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be Mike Walker, Frank Butler, Audie Andrus, Ron Chatelain, Beaux Russell and Robin Tatman.
