Funeral services for Ms. Bridendall will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2013 in the chapel of John Kramer & Son, Alexandria, with Rev. Barry Hoekstra officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery, Ruston.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2013 and again from 8:30 a.m. until time of service on Monday, at the funeral home.
Ms. Louise Bridendall, age 88, died peacefully in her Alexandria home January 3, 2013.
Ms. Bridendall was born July 30, 1924, in Alexandria to Elizabeth Gullatt Bridendall and Philip R. Bridendall, Sr. who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth Bridendall Wilson, Sarah D. Bridendall, and brother, Philip R. Bridendall, Jr.
Louise, a lifelong educator, received a B.S. degree from Louisiana Tech University and M.S. degree from Northwestern State University. She retired after 39 years of teaching English, Biology and General Science at Glenmora High School as well as coaching the girls' basketball and softball teams. Her interest in the environmental sciences led to her attendance at many forest workshops and field trips with her students. Louise loved and supported her many students, helping them to further their education and careers and will be greatly missed. She was a member and past president of Delta Kappa Gamma sorority.
Louise is survived by Caroline Bridendall Valentine, Carmel, Indiana; John P. Bridendall, Atlanta,Georgia; William H. Bridendall, Blacksburg, Virginia; Margaret E. Bridendall Campbell, Cleveland, Tennessee; Sarah L. Bridendall, Carmel, Indiana; Shirley A. Litton, Alexandria,Louisiana and ten great nieces and nephews.
