Malcolm (Mac) Paul Baudin

A Memorial Service for Mr. Malcolm (Mac) Baudin will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hixson Brothers Funeral Home Chapel in Marksville.

Mr. Baudin, age 80 of Marksville, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the Grace Home in Alexandria. He is preceded in death by his parents, Kirby and Della Baudin, and one sister, Darlene Baudin.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Grace Gauthier Baudin of Marksville; two sons, Brady and wife Debbie of Pineville and Todd of Marksville; two daughters, Melanie Steyer and husband Bill of Marksville and Nicole Baudin also of Marksville; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Baudin served his country honorably for 42 years as a member of the Louisiana National Guard, 36 of which was employed as a National Guard Technician. He earned several Army Commendation and Achievement Medals for meritorious service throughout his career. Mr. Baudin retired with the rank of Sergeant Major in 1992.

He was a long time member of the American Legion, Post 130 and was recently recognized as a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge 269 in Marksville where he retained the level of Master Mason.

Mr. Baudin, or "Mr. Mac" as he was better known to many, was also a successful businessman in Marksville as owner and operator of Mac's Roller Rink beginning in 1957 which ultimately transitioned to a popular dance club known as The Peacock Club. Mr. Mac was also elected to the Marksville Town Council in 1990, serving until 1994.

Visitation will be held in the Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Marksville on Friday, February 8, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. until shortly before time of services.
