Funeral services for Mr. Marshall R. Stretton will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2013 in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, Louisiana with Reverends Samuel Tinsley and Jim Williams officiating. Interment will be in Restland Memorial Gardens, Pollock, Louisiana, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, Louisiana.
Mr. Stretton, age 80, of Pollock, entered eternal rest on Monday, February 25, 2013 at his residence.
Marshall served the country he dearly loved from 1951 - 1954 as a United States Marine. He remained in the reserves until 1959. Marshall continued his service to others as a teacher, assistant principal and principal in many schools across the country. He was an educator in Michigan, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and most recently from 1978 - 1993 at Poland and Mary Goff Schools in Louisiana. He attended Edgewood Free Methodist Church where he loved to teach Sunday school and support the outreach programs.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd, Sr. and Violet Stretton; four brothers and sisters, Vivian Stretton, Carl Stretton, Phyllis LeDoux and Shelby Stretton; daughter-in-law, Joan Stretton.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judith A. Stretton; four children, Milton L. Stretton of Connecticut, Faith D. Tourney (Don) of Florida, Kern M. Stretton (Christina) of Louisiana, Karen L. Henson (Jerome) of Louisiana; brothers and sisters, Norman Stretton of Louisiana, Sanford Stretton of Colorado, Lorna Stretton of Louisiana; six grandchildren, Matthew Stretton, Christopher Stretton, Bethany Condiff of Virginia, Hope Tourney of Florida, Elizabeth Henson and Olivia Henson of Louisiana; eight great grandchildren, M.J. and Noah Stretton, Corbin and Avery King, Emma Grace and Sophia Stretton, Charles and Abigail Condiff all of Virginia.
Friends may call at Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Edgewood Free Methodist Church Building Fund, 316 Edgewood Dr., Pineville, Louisiana 71360.
