Marvin Rivers Obituary
Funeral services for Marvin T. "Bill" Rivers will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, February 13, 2016 at St. Clair Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Ellis and Reverend Don Gauthier officiating. Committal service will follow at St. Clair Baptist Church Cemetery in Boyce under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Alexandria.
"Bill", 82, of Boyce, entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria with his loving family by his side. He was born September 7, 1933 in Many to the union of Clarence J. Rivers and Irma Vanasselberg Rivers. He was the owner and operator of Bill Rivers Roofing.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Patsy Bordelon and Diane Mitchell; two brothers, Jerry Rivers and Harvey Rivers; and one sister, Maggie Ranger.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are: his loving wife of 47 years, Margie Ruth Herren Rivers; one son, Tommy Ray Rivers of Sale Creek, Tennessee; three daughters, Margie Rivers of Barcelona, Spain, Susan (Ted) Richey of Alexandria, and Ginnie (Kenny) Keele of Glenmora; three brothers, Sherman Rivers of Gardner, "Doc" (Neileen) Rivers of Gardner, and Arthur (Gloria) Rivers of Kolin; three sisters, Joan Rivers of Otis, Betty Rivers Henderson of Alexandria, and Gail (Autrey) Harrington of Gardner; sister-in-law, Yvonne Rivers of Otis; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, along with a host of family and friends, who love and will miss him.
Visitation will be held at St. Clair Baptist Church on Friday, February 12, 2016 from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., then on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 9 a.m. until service time at 3 p.m. in the church.
