A Mass of Christian Burial for Pearl Agnus Descant Deshotel was held on Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Hessmer, with Fr. Edwin Rodriguez-Hernandez officiating. Entombment was in St. Alphonsus Mausoleum #2 under the direction of Melancon Funeral Home, Bunkie.
Mrs. Deshotel, age 89, of the BayHills Community, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at Dubuis Hospital in Alexandria. She was active in her life, belonging to Home Demonstration Club, Silver Society, Good Sam Campers and St. Alphonsus Altar Society. She possessed a talent for sewing, cooking and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Cecil Deshotel; her parents, Theophile and Celcina Francois Descant; one brother, Webster Dick Descant and five sisters, Ruby Moreau, Thelma Descant, Ransey Watts, Grace Aymond and Mackie Aymond.
Survivors include one daughter, Dianne Berlin (Wayne, Sr.) of Alexandria; four sons, Philip Deshotel, Daryl (Sue) Deshotel and James (Shirley) Deshotel of the BayHills Community and Wayne (Pamela) Deshotel of Hessmer; eight grandchildren, Daryl (Olivia) Deshotel, Wayne (Bobbi) Berlin, Jr., Brandi (Gregory) Dubea, Brian Berlin, Jonathan Deshotel, Mackenzie (Chris) Sanders, Jeremy and Justin Deshotel; ten great grandchildren, Noah, Kate, Annalise, Ava, Rebecca, Cecelia, Carter, Christopher, Sarah, and Jonathan; three sisters, Hazel Lafleur of Arkansas, Myrtle Chatelain of Rayne and Patsy Saucier of New Orleans.
