Ray L. Durbin

Services for Ray L. Durbin will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2013 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria with Pastor Scott Etheridge officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Masonic services will be conducted by Oliver Lodge #84 F & AM.

The family requests that visitation be observed Friday at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will continue on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

Mr. Durbin, 87, of Shreveport passed away Wednesday, June 12, at his residence.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over 40 years, where he served as the church treasurer and as a Sunday School Teacher. He was a member of Oliver Lodge #84 F&AM for 51 years prior to his death he was the oldest living member of his lodge, former worshipful master of Oliver Lodge, 32 degree Mason, Scottish Rite, Valley of Shreveport. York Rite of Alexandria, Keystone Chapter #44, Raul Summit council #12, C M and Trinity Commander #8, St. Matthew Conclave, Bossier City, Habibi Shriners, Lake Charles. Past President of Mid State Shrine Club. He was an Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. During his working life he was a Civil Engineer at England Air Force Base.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Thelma Jean Durbin; parents, David Baxter and Ola Boddie Durbin; brother, David Baxter Durbin.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Kenneth Durbin of Shreveport; daughter, Linda Frye and husband, Jerry of Bryceland; granddaughter, Greta Mathews and husband, Jeremy of Olathe, Kansas; grandson, Richard McCarter and wife, Jennifer of Shreveport; great grandchildren, Bradley, Jessica Mathew, Hilary, Ryleigh McCarter.

Pallbearers will be Josh Mathews, Jody Mathews, Gene Cain, Garland Richardson, David Durbin and Tony Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers will be Richard McCarter, Kenneth Durbin, Jerry Mathews, Jerry Frye and Jeremy Mathews.
