Richard L. "Dick" Jakubiak

Services for Mr. Richard L. " Dick" Jakubiak will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 21, 2012 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville with Chaplain Ray Wells officiating. Burial will be in Czech Cemetery, Libuse.

The family requests that visitation be observed Friday at Hixson Brothers, Pineville from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until service time. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Friday at Hixson Brothers, Pineville, with Reverend Craig Scott, Pastor of St. Rita Catholic Church.

Mr. Jakubiak, 78, of Pineville passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at his residence.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a fireman for the City of Alexandria until his retirement. He was a member of the AmVets and V. F. W. Mr. Jakubiak was a member American Legion where he previously served as commander, he was also a member of the 40/8 club, where held the office of Grand Chef Degar, Grand Chef Detrain, Grand Advocate, and was currently Grand Chef Degar Passe. He loved to fish and have fish frys. He loved collecting cans for many years donating the money to St. Jude's Hospital. He played the accordian with the Polka Dots, a band in Libuse.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Angelina Jakubiak; parents, Clarence and Charlotte Jakubiak; nephews, Thomas and David Jakubiak.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Joan Jakubiak; daughter, Charlene Kennedy and husband, Michael of Katy, Texas; step-daughters, Pam McKenzie and husband, Steve, Kim Frazier and husband, Bill; brother, Clarence "Jack" Jakubiak of Detroit, Michigan; sister, Gerry Quenneville of Detroit, Michigan; granddaughters, Emily and Michelle Kennedy of Katy, Texas; two nieces, Kathy Kovack and husband, Peter of Detroit, Michigan, Eileen Hilton and husband, Roy of Detroit, Michigan; numerous step grandchildren and lots of friends.

Pallbearers will be Jo Jo Sierra, Mike Roeseller, Steve Cormier, Steve McKenzie, Bill Woolley and Jason Frazier. Honorary pallbearers will be Henry Kwiatkowski, Harold Chaudior.

Memorial donations may be made to , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

A special thank you to St. Joseph Hospice, Dr. Barton, Nurse Lisa and the rest of the staff that helped him during his illness.
