Robert B. Winegeart

Robert B. Winegeart was born in Glenmora, La., on October 31,1923, he passed from this life on March 12, 2014 at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria. He was the son of William John Winegeart and Ellie Beatrice Carter. He attended Northwestern State University and received his B.A. degree. He also received his Masters Degree from LSU. He was married to Alice Blackman McLeod Winegeart. They enjoyed almost 62 years of Marriage. He will always be remembered for being a gentleman, always opening the car door for his beloved wife.

He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Jonesville, La. He served as Deacon and taught the Men's Sunday School Class. The members will have fond memories of him making Angel Biscuits for all occasions. For years he kept the church grounds maintained.

He served his country during World War II, he was captain of the supply train in Germany. He taught Math at Block High School for 27 years. He served as Fire Chief for the town of Jonesville for many years. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, and gardening, he always kept up a large garden, giving gallons of tomatoes away to the community. He lived a long and useful life touching the lives of of many along the way. His family is very grateful for the love he showed them.

He is survived by his loving wife ,Alice, two daughters; Cathy McLeod Young and husband Roger of Crowley, Texas. Robin Edwards and husband Mickey of Jonesville, La. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Thomas James Winegeart and wife Joy Tilly, and a graet grandson Andrew Edwards.

The service arrangements were under the direction of Kinner & Stevens Funeral Home and are as follows, Service were held at 2:00 PM, Friday March 14,2014. Robert was laid to rest at the Spring Ridge Cemetery in Aimwell. We would like to thank Brother Gary Norris and Bro. Ralph Weber along with the members of First Baptist Church. Thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Francis Cabrini. We appreciate the care given by Hospice Compassus, as well as the loving care given by Alline Watkins, Heather Perrin, and Michele Jefferson.
