Roy Guice Obituary

SFC Roy Lee Guice

March 9, 1931 - February 7, 2012

Funeral services for SFC Roy Lee Guice will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2012 in the Rush Chapel, Hineston with Reverend Mark Woodham officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Alexandria Memorial Gardens under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Hineston.

Mr. Guice, 80, of Hineston, entered eternal rest on February 7, 2012 in Naomi Heights Nursing Home, Alexandria. He was at the nursing home for six years and the family appreciates all the love and care he was given from the nurses, CNAs and the entire staff. The family would like to extend a special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice for the special care that they gave our dad during his last two weeks and the Strothers Crossing Hunting Club members.

Roy was a retired United States Army Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Dorothy M. Guice; his parents, Cecil Christopher and Beatrice Irene Guice; four brothers, Robert Guice, Clyde Guice, George Guice and Gene Guice and two sisters, Irene Hawsey and Mildred Welch.

Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include three sons - Hardy Guice of Flatwoods, Stevie Guice of Glenmora and Andy Guice and his wife, Sheila of Boyce; three daughters - Carolyn Melder and her husband, Jack of Hineston, Sandy Belcher and her husband, Floyd of Houston, Texas and Becky Avery of Glenmora; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Friends may call at Rush Funeral Home, Hineston, on Friday, February 10, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday, February 11, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.

Pallbearers honored to serve are Bill Crawford, Bill Robinson, Lester Golemon, Steve Jolly, James Beassie and Lonnie Smith.
