Ruby Ryder Robertson

Services for Mrs. Ruby Ryder Robertson will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 27, 2012 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville. Burial will be in Kitchens Creek Cemetery.

The family requests that visitation be observed Sunday at Hixson Brothers, Pineville from 2:00 p.m. until service time.

Mrs. Robertson, 101, of Tioga passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Regency House, Alexandria.

She was born on Holloway Prairie on April 20, 1911. Ruby came from an old established Rapides Parish family. Her parents were Nancy Jenkins Ryder and Rubin Ryder. Rubin's father, Michael Ryder was born in Ireland.

From the early 1930's until all the W. T. Grant stores closed, Ruby worked for W. T. Grant in downtown Alexandria. She was manager of the store when in closed. Ruby's outgoing nature took her in several directions. She enjoyed working in her azalea filled yard and was a presence in Tioga political meetings for a time. She was one of the founding members of the Ball Senior's Citizens Group. She lived in her home in Ball until forced by illness to move to the Regency House in 2001.

She was preceded in death by her, husband, James L. (Lefty) Robertson; five siblings Abby Stephens, Rudolph Ryder, Marvin Ryder, Frankie Wiley and Evon Ryder.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Pargen and his wife, Lauralee; grandchildren, Pargen, Jr. and wife, Lesley and their children, Aino and Pargen, III and Barron and wife, Andrea, who are expecting a baby next month; brother, Dewey Ryder of Shreveport.

Pallbearers will be Paul Allbritton, L. E. Brunson, John David Cotton, Gary Ryder, Randy Ryder, Jimmy Stephens, Kenneth Stephens, and Bert Wiley.
