Velma Westbrook O'Banion Obituary
Velma Westbrook O'Banion

Funeral services for Velma Westbrook O'Banion will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2012 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Pineville with Reverend Lloyd Bye officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Hixson Brothers, Pineville Sunday, June 17, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and continued Monday, June 18, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

The soul of Velma Westbrook O'Banion fled its earthly home on the 15th day of June, 2012, the day before her birthday. She lived a long and fulfilled life, being 94 years of age.

A lifelong residence of Pineville, it was there she raised her three children, Robert Westbrook, who preceded her, leaving two remaining daughters, Linda Bohannon of Alexandria and Sandra Page of Bedford, Texas. She was the widow of Woodrow Westbrook and George O'Banion and was often heard to express how fortunate she had been in having had two long and happy marriages. She was blessed with a stepson, Charles O'Banion who could not have been more a son had he been born to her. She also was blessed to have five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

She cherished her church family, Lakeside Baptist Church, having been a charter member and ask that we express her thanks and appreciation for all the kindness shown her over the years. She greatly missed her many friends and family members who had predeceased her. It is with mixed emotions we say goodbye to our mother, while the heartache of not being able to see nor touch her exists and causes us pain, the fact she is no longer struggling within a body that could not function provides relief to all that loved her.
